This antique, 1893-1900, Maddock Royal Porcelain, Lamberton Works, covered butter dish is in good condition. It does have some crazing beneath the glaze, and some discoloration on the insert. There is a small chip on the verge of the dish and some discoloration on the inside of the lid rim. It is semi-porcelain whiteware with a green leaf pattern and gold trim. It is American made by Thomas Maddock and Sons. Ice chips were placed beneath the insert to keep the butter cool. The dish is 8” across from lugged handle to handle. The insert is 4 5/8” across. The domed lid with handle is 3” high including the handle and is 5 ¾” across.
